Mangaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that the decision to set up the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mangaluru will be made after discussions with the Centre.

Araga said, “Terror activities are increasing in Mangaluru, and a NIA branch should be set up to address local security concerns ,Police officers have been instructed to keep an eye on terrorist activities in the area.”

The minister said that an FIR had been filed regarding the celebratory firing during the BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yaatra led by Union Minister Bhagwant Khuba. Celebrating a firing in public is wrong. Kodagu and other parts of the state follow a ritual of shooting a single shot in the air during festivals, but doing it in public is unacceptable.
