On Thursday, the collection of twenty‑five essays titled “ಕೆನರಾಂತ್ ಬದ್ಲಾಲ್ಲೆಂ ಜಿವಿತ್ ಆನಿ ಹೆರ್ ಲೇಖನಾಂ” (Life Transformed in Canara and Other Writings) by social activist and Konkani‑Kannada writer H.R. Alva was unveiled at the Daijiworld headquarters in Bondel, Mangalore.
The ceremony was presided over by Albert W. Disoj, a prominent entrepreneur who heads Model Bank, chairs the Aldel Educational Trust and serves as president of the Maharashtra Konkani Language Board. While speaking, Disoj highlighted Alva’s half‑century dedication to literature, noting the author’s reputation not only in Karnataka but also in Mumbai and other regions.

Bank and recipient of the Sahakar Ratna award, who praised Alva’s relentless effort and its inspirational impact on youth.
Walter Nandhalike, founder and president of Daijiworld, recalled his early acquaintance with Alva through the youth‑oriented Konkani monthly “ಆಮ್ಚೊ ಯುವಕ್”. He shared memories of the author’s contributions to the magazine during their school days.
Honoured guests also included Ropesh, editor of the weekly “Rakno”, and Chetan Lobo, director of Mangalore ASSI Press, both of whom were thanked for their role in bringing the publication to fruition. The event was hosted by Harsha Alva and Heera Alva, while writer Concepta Fernandes formally introduced the book.
Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Charles Poyas, registrar of St. John’s College campus in Mumbai; poet Melvin Rodrigues, a Central Sahitya Akademi award‑winner; film director Stany Bel; Konkani author Praveen Tawro; Vincy Pinto; and Ronald Najareth. H.R. Alva received a warm welcome from the assembled crowd, marking a significant moment for Konkani literature in the coastal region.
