On July 15, 2026, Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) made history by securing the prestigious Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Customer Experience Accreditation Programme’s Level 5 Accreditation. This achievement positions MIA among the world’s elite airports, with only three other Indian airports – Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport – holding this distinction. As the fourth Indian airport to reach this level, MIA has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to prioritizing passenger satisfaction.

MIA’s journey to Level 5 Accreditation has been swift, with the airport climbing from Level 3 to Level 5 in just over 30 months. This progression reflects the airport’s organization-wide commitment to customer experience, with key stakeholders such as the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Customs, Immigration, and individual airlines contributing to a seamless passenger journey.

The ACI program evaluates how airports integrate customer experience into their strategy, governance, culture, operations, and service delivery. Level 5 accreditation requires airports to foster a collaborative ecosystem, with all stakeholders working together to deliver exceptional experiences. MIA’s success can be attributed to several key initiatives, including digital innovation, unified governance, stakeholder integration, infrastructure upgrades, and feedback loops.

A spokesperson for MIA stated that this recognition reflects the collective efforts of employees, stakeholders, and partners who share a common vision of delivering exceptional experiences to every passenger. As the third airport in the Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) network to attain this distinction, MIA remains committed to continuously raising the bar. This achievement firmly establishes MIA’s reputation on the global stage, aligning local operations with international best practices in aviation hospitality.
