Mangalore: A brutal incident in which a dog was dragged into a bike near Maryhill in the city has been registered at Kavur station.The culprit has been identified as Irayya. The Gulberg-based Irriya is said to have been working on a farm at Konchadi’s doctor’s house.
The dog escaped unhurt. A small part of the incident was captured on CCTV and the case was registered against this.
DCP (law and order) Hariram Shankar said that the accused have been traced, and have been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020, as they were found wandering for non-essential purposes.
In a similar incident reported on April, 24, a video of a dog tied to a bike, being dragged along a service road near NITK Surathkal had gone viral. The two accused were arrested and released on bail.
