Maharashtra: Two women killed, four injured in Thane flat roof collapse
Thane. A 46-year-old woman was killed and her four daughters injured when part of the roof of a flat collapsed in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Friday, while in another incident a woman died after a concrete balcony collapsed on her. The officers provided this information. The first incident took place at around 4.15 am in a residential building in Patan Bunder area of Uttan town, while the second incident took place in Bhiwandi on Friday afternoon, they said.
“A woman, Sunita Borges, died on the spot while her four daughters, aged between 12 and 25, were injured when a portion of the roof of the flat collapsed,” an official of the district disaster management cell said.
The fire brigade personnel of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) cleared the debris and pulled out the injured, the official said. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital and a case of accidental death has been registered, he said.
According to the official, local police and civic officials are probing the matter. He told that a 55-year-old woman died in the Bhiwandi incident.
