A police control room official said that the jeep carrying some students and others was on its way from Padgha to Khadawali railway station when it collided with an oncoming truck and skidded about 100 meters. An official of the Padgha Police Station said that the accident took place at Padgha area of Bhiwandi taluk at around 6.30 am amid heavy rain. An official of the district disaster control room said that four people died on the spot, while two others died on the way to the hospital.
He said that three seriously injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhiwandi, while the other three have minor injuries. He was discharged after first aid. The police said that locals who got the information rushed to the spot and helped the victims. The dead bodies have been sent to the government hospital for post-mortem. The deceased have been identified as Chinmay Shinde (15), Rhea Pardeshi, Chaitali Pimple (27), Santosh Anant Jadhav (50), Vasant Dharam Jadhav (50) and Prajwal Firke, police said.
