Lucknow: Gangster Sanjeev Jeevan was shot dead in the premises of Lucknow District Court on Wednesday and the attacker Vijay Yadav (24) demanded Rs 20 lakh for this murder. Preliminary investigation has revealed that supari was obtained.

According to the police, Vijay Yadav fired 7 to 9 rounds of Czech-made Magnum Alpha revolver with 357 bore at Sanjeev Jeeva. According to the postmortem report, eight bullet wounds were found on Sanjeev Jeeva’s body. Six bullets penetrated the main body – torso. The post-mortem report said that there were two bullet wounds in both hands.

Police sources said that Vijay Yadav, a resident of Jaunpur’s Kerakat, had come to look for work and may have met the person who gave him the betel nut to kill Sanjeev Jeeva. Sources said that they are waiting for the accused to regain consciousness to confirm this.

However, Vijay, who says he does not remember, has not revealed the name of the person who gave him the supari. Vijay Yadav has two previous criminal cases, in 2016 he was booked under the POCSO Act for raping a minor girl in Azamgarh and spent six months in jail.

The case was settled by mutual consent two months ago. Another case was registered in Jaunpur in 2021 for violating covid rules.
