On August 13, 2026, Lokayukta officials from the Mangaluru division, led by Lokayukta Dinesh B.P., conducted surprise inspections at nine taluk offices in Mangaluru, Puttur, Bantwal, Sullia, Kadaba, Ullal, Moodbidri, Mulki, and Belthangady. The inspections, which lasted from morning to evening, aimed to scrutinize the offices based on suo motu cases and public complaints. A team of four Deputy Superintendents of Police, five inspectors, and 55 Lokayukta personnel participated in the inspections.
The Lokayukta team inspected various sections of the taluk offices, examining records, case files, and documents related to pending applications and cases. At the Bantwal taluk office, officials collected information from staff and scrutinized case files and procedures. In Puttur, they examined file disposal and pending applications, while in Sullia, they inspected various sections and collected details of files and applications.
The inspections also uncovered some administrative lapses, including pending files and alleged irregularities in land grants. In Belthangady, the team examined files and documents, resulting in the faster disposal of some pending work. In Mulki and Moodbidri, officials gave particular attention to long-pending files and recently disposed files. The Lokayukta team also visited the Ullal taluk office, where they examined files and administrative matters, following several complaints from the public.
During the inspections, some members of the public submitted complaints directly to the Lokayukta officials, which will be examined further. The inspections highlight the need for improved administrative functioning and file management in the taluk offices.
