Lok Sabha Elections: Chirag Paswan meets BJP’s Nithyananda Rai, alliance likely
New Delhi, July. 09: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) National President Chirag Paswan met Union Minister and BJP leader Nithyananda Rai in Patna. A party meeting (Ram Vilas Paswan faction) has been called in Patna to discuss the possibility of an alliance between the two parties for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The back-to-back meetings come amid strong rumors of Chirag Paswan joining the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “Today’s meeting was held to discuss the LJP alliance keeping in view the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections and 2025 Bihar assembly elections. Party leaders have authorized me to take a decision on the alliance,” the LJP chief said after meeting party leaders in Patna.
“Discussions are still going on about the alliance between the two parties. Becoming a minister is not my priority,” Chirag Paswan had said before leaving for Delhi. In the meeting, party officials officially authorized Chirag Paswan to take a decision on the alliance.
There is a discussion about joining the NDA. Chirag Paswan said that it is not appropriate to say anything before the final decision. Now, speculations are rife that Chirag Paswan may be inducted into the Union Cabinet by the BJP. He was recently given Z category security after the Intelligence Bureau in its report had threatened his life.
What did the BJP leader say after the meeting?
After meeting Chirag Paswan, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nithyananda Rai said, “This is our old home, it’s always good when we meet. Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP have worked for the welfare of the people. Opposition unity is due to PM Modi’s fear of popularity. Opposition has no leader or any policy.” They should learn about policies, service and leadership from PM Modi,” he said.
