On June 29, the First Additional District and Sessions Court of Kundapur delivered a verdict in a murder case that occurred on May 14, 2023, in Harkuru under Gangolli police station. The accused, Raju, was found guilty of killing a man who was sleeping by throwing a stone on his head. The incident took place when Raju and the victim, Sangodappa Yane Sangamesha, got into a fight over salary at 9:15 in the night. Raju allegedly picked up a red stone near the Panchanga and threw it on Sangodappa’s head, resulting in his death. Nagaraja Achari of Kundapur Taluk Harkur village had hired Raju for plaster work through Sangodappa. The case was registered in Gangolli police station, and the then Byndur Police Circle Inspector Santosh Kaykini conducted the investigation, submitting the charge sheet to the court. Public prosecutor Indira Nayka presented arguments on behalf of the government, examining witnesses and building a case against Raju. Judge Abdul Rahim Hussain Sheikh, who presided over the trial, found the charge against Raju to be proved and sentenced him to life imprisonment under Section 302 IPCD, along with penalties and imprisonment for other related sections.
