Kundapur Gram Panchayat Constituency Draft Published — Public Objections Open Until June 29

The Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Act, 1993, has set in motion a fresh delimitation exercise for gram panchayat constituencies in Kundapur taluk. The district administration published a draft notification on Wednesday detailing the revised regional electoral constituencies and the number of member seats assigned to each.

Under Section 5(5) of the Act, the areas falling within each gram panchayat jurisdiction have been split into multiple constituencies. For Hosadu gram panchayat, three constituencies have been carved out. Hosadu-1 includes Kanchagodu, Janata Colony, and parts of Kharvikeri Hosadu village, with three seats. Hosadu-2 covers Ganadamakki, Kerikodlu, and other hamlets, allotted two seats. Hosadu-3 comprises Arate, Inland, and Sobrahittu, with three seats.

Senapur gram panchayat has been divided into two constituencies. Senapur-1 takes in Guddeyangadi, Belladi, the railway station area, Ramnagar, and Shivanagar, and has been allocated four seats. Senapur-2 includes Guddamadi, Parankali, Saladi, and Oukbailu, with three seats.

The draft notification, aligned with the government's amendment circular dated June 10, 2026, has been published for public scrutiny. Residents likely to be affected can submit objections in writing to the district collector's office or the Kundapur tehsildar's office. The deadline for filing objections is 5:00 pm on June 29. Officials have made clear that any submissions arriving after that time will be rejected outright.

Boundary descriptions in the notification rely on local landmarks such as the Arabian Sea, Souparnika Hole, and major roads including the Gujjadi-Alur Zilla Panchayat Road. The exercise aims to ensure balanced representation across the taluk's panchayat wards.
