Pune: Maharashtra’s Kolhapur, which witnessed violence, returned to normalcy on Thursday and it is learned that tight security has been maintained everywhere as a precautionary measure.

On Wednesday, Hindu organizations staged a protest against Tipu Sultan and Aurangzeb’s WhatsApp status with photo and audio. In this background curfew was enforced in Kolhapur.
Kolhapur Superintendent of Police Mahendra Pandit said that the situation has returned to normal and daily business transactions have started as usual.
Internet services were suspended till 10 am on Friday. It is said that it will take time to re-establish services.

As a precautionary measure, police personnel have been deployed at important places in the city. Police deployment continues at sensitive locations in Kolhapur city and district, with a total of 60 police officers. 300 other personnel are deployed for security in the city.
