Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi inaugurated the Kansale folk dance art training program on June 22 in Udupi, emphasizing the need for young generations to preserve and nurture art culture. The training program, a collaborative effort between the District Kannada and Culture Department, Social Welfare Department, and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, aims to impart art and culture to Scheduled Caste students. Kodgi stressed that education should extend beyond reading, encouraging students to engage in sports, cultural activities, and extracurricular activities. He expressed his desire to see art and culture thrive in the coming days.
Chairman of Kundapur City Planning Authority Vinod Krasta highlighted the government’s initiative to identify and showcase students’ talent through the training program. He advised students to utilize the opportunity and take the lead in their future endeavors. The event was presided over by Deputy Director of District Social Welfare Department Anita Madlur, with notable attendees including District Scheduled Castes Welfare Officer Narayan Swamy M, folk artists Shankardas Chandkala and Raghavendra Naik, and Superintendent of Kundapur Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Boys’ Hostel Bhaskar Pujari.
Poornima, Assistant Director of District Kannada and Culture Department, delivered the introductory speech, while Radhika Rani, Superintendent of Scheduled Category Post-Matric Girls’ Dormitory, presented the program. Ramesh Kulal, Assistant Director of Kundapur Taluk Social Welfare Department, offered a vote of thanks. The program serves as a platform for students to develop their artistic skills and preserve the region’s cultural heritage.
