Doha, Qatar – Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), a key associate of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) operating under the Indian Embassy's patronage, hosted a vibrant Mother's Day 2026 celebration this past Sunday. Held at the Vibrant Industrial Safety Training Academy, the event brought together the Kannada diaspora to honor mothers and reinforce cultural bonds.
The celebration, themed “Matru Devo Bhava,” saw a large gathering of KSQ members united in their appreciation for motherhood's enduring values. The evening commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing auspicious beginnings. Ms. Samanvi's melodious rendition of “Amma Ninna Edeyaaldin” captivated the audience, followed by KSQ Vice President Mr. Anil Bhasagi's warm welcome address.
KSQ President Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu addressed the attendees, expressing pride in the organization's cultural initiatives and thanking the community for their enthusiastic participation, which he credited for the event's success. Distinguished guests further enriched the program with inspiring messages.
Chief Guest Dr. Fayqa Ashkanani, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality, highlighted mothers' universal significance and their pivotal role in shaping society. Co-Chief Guest Ms. Bindu N. Nair, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India, emphasized motherhood's enduring cultural importance within the Indian diaspora globally. Guests of Honour Dr. Rohini Puttegowda and Ms. Hameeda Kadar shared valuable insights on health, well-being, and education.
The collaborative spirit within Qatar's Indian community was evident with the presence of prominent leaders, including ICC Vice President Mr. Shantanu Deshpande, KSQ advisor & ICBF General Secretary Mr. Deepak Shetty, KSQ Advisors Mr. Arunkumar, Mr. Veeresh Mannangi, Dr. Sanjay Kudari, and ICC former President Mrs. Milan Arun. Engaging games and activities fostered interaction and community bonding throughout the lively event.
KSQ Cultural Secretary Mrs. Bhavana delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all contributors. A symbolic cake-cutting ceremony concluded the festivities.
