Bengaluru, June 26: Heavy rains continue in coastal districts of northern Karnataka. The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that the rains that have been falling in this region for the past few days will continue till July 1.
Coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have been recording heavy rains throughout the day. A ‘yellow alert’ has been issued for these three districts till July 1. Orange alert has been announced for two days tomorrow on June 27 and 28 only for Uttara Kannada district.
Cloudy weather prevailed in these three districts. A couple of places will receive normal rains, but all the other places will receive torrential rains. The wind speed will be 40-45 km per hour on the coastal side. It can sometimes blow at a maximum speed of 55 kmph. Due to this, the IMD has advised the fishermen not to go into the sea for fishing.
There is no torrential rain in the northern hinterland
So far North Karnataka has not received extensive rains as claimed. Moderate to frequent, heavy rain has been recorded in one or two places. The heat of the sun has increased in many places.
For the next three days i.e. till June 29, inland Vijayapur, Bagalkote, Dharwad, Belgaum, Haveri, Gadag, Koppal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Yadgiri districts and Bangalore City, Bangalore Rural, Bellary, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Moderate rain will occur over Vijayanagar, Mandya and Mysore districts.
Monsoon will intensify two days after June 29 in these districts. Thus, it is estimated that moderate to good rainfall may be recorded in this part.
How much rain has fallen in which districts?
In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall has been recorded in coastal areas. Karkala of Udupi district, Manki, Honnavar, Ankola, Kumata, Castlerock, Karwar, Kota, Siddapur, Mangalore Airport, Shimoga, Raichur, Ramanagara districts of Uttara Kannada district have recorded heavy rainfall.
