Monsoon, which started in early June as a result of Cyclone Bipper Joy, showed signs of intensifying from Sunday. Many parts of the state received good rain on Monday and Tuesday. Widespread rain is forecast in many districts of the state on Wednesday as well.

A yellow alert has been announced in the coastal districts of Karnataka due to the possibility of heavy rain with storm, lightning and thunder. Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts have been forecasted for heavy rainfall for the next four days.

 

Rain

 

Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea due to the possibility of heavy storms. The district administration has also instructed tourists and locals not to go to the sea shore. On Monday too, there was widespread rain in many areas of the coastal districts.

Good rainfall in southern interior districts

Widespread rains lashed almost all the districts of the southern hinterland on Tuesday. Cloudy conditions continued since Tuesday morning, with good rainfall in many districts during the afternoon and evening.

Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, Bangalore City, Bangalore Rural, Tumkur, Mysore, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Ramnagar districts received widespread rain. There was widespread rain in many parts of Hassan district and in many places water entered the houses and people were left to flee. Weather department said that there will be good rain in these districts on Wednesday as well.

 

Due to heavy rain in Shimoga on Tuesday, the roads were filled with water and people were struggling. Many two-wheelers were submerged in water, most of the roads were like canals. Heavy rain will continue for four more days, said the Meteorological Department.

Bangalore rain forecast

Cloudy weather continued in Bengaluru city on Wednesday as well. On Tuesday morning, the city had a fine weather, with many roads flooded and motorists stranded, with many underpasses closed and traffic snarled. Bengaluru is also predicted to receive good rain on Wednesday.
