Bengaluru, July 20: As a result of the changes in the sea surface, the Karnataka coast and northern hinterland continued to receive rain. Moderate to heavy rain will continue for another three to four days. Rain Raya, which initially penetrated inland, has been raging since few days.
An eddy/storf is created from 4 km to 7.6 km on the sea surface. It is moving southward. Westward wind speed has increased over the coastal areas of the state. Moreover, there is a constant change in sea level in monsoons.
Due to all these reasons, there will be moderate to heavy rains in coastal areas, heavy to heavy rains for a couple of days. Most of the districts of northern inland districts are receiving light to moderate rains daily from morning to night. It is raining incessantly in some areas.
4 days of heavy rain for the coast
Coastal Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts have been receiving rain for almost a month. Earlier, roads were flooded in various parts of Dakshina Kannada district including Mangalore. There was a flood situation. People are worried that another climate and panic will recur.
It will rain heavily on the coast for the next four days. Orange alert has been issued for Uttara Kannada and Udupi today and tomorrow, yellow alert for the rest of the three districts. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely, weather experts have warned fishermen not to go out to sea for fishing due to strong winds.
Heavy rains in these districts of northern hinterland
An orange alert has been issued for torrential rains in north interior Belgaum today and a yellow alert till July 24. Yellow alert has been announced for Bidar for two days and Kalaburagi district for three days. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain in the rest of the districts. Cold and rainy conditions have prevailed over the northern hinterland for a few days. A condition has arisen that the darshan of the sun is rare.
Yellow alert has been issued for four days of heavy rainfall in hill districts of Chikmagalur, Kodagu and Shimoga.
Coastal districts and Shimoga district’s Nagar, Trinive, Hosahalli, Bidaragodu, Theerthmattur, Honnethalu, Uttara Kannada district’s Dodmane, Ramanagara and Belgaum district received good rain on Wednesday.
