On Sunday, hundreds of police constable recruitment exam aspirants in Karnataka's Vijayapura district staged a protest, alleging irregularities in the conduct of the written test at Sharadamba PU College in Tikota. The candidates claimed that question papers were distributed 30 minutes late and that the procedure for handling question papers and OMR sheets varied across classrooms. This prompted many to boycott the examination and demand a re-examination. Despite the allegations, the district administration maintained that the examination was conducted in accordance with the Karnataka Examinations Authority Standard Operating Procedure. Deputy Commissioner T Bhoobalan and Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi visited the centre to address the issue. The written examination was held at over 800 centres across Karnataka for 3,991 Civil Police Constable posts, with around 4.54 lakh candidates appearing. The Karnataka Examinations Authority uploaded candidates' OMR answer sheets to its website within 30 minutes of the examination. Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka criticized the state government, alleging administrative failure and demanding the resignation of Home Minister Priyank Kharge. Ashoka also called for a re-examination and an independent inquiry into the incident, which he claimed was not an isolated one, with similar issues reported in Haveri and Hassan.
