MANGALURU: A 16-year-old boy was critically injured after his father opened fire at his office in Mangaluru South Police station limits on Tuesday. His father Rajesh Prabhu is the owner of Vaishnavi Express Cargo Private Limited.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar who visited the spot said that the incident took place at the express cargo office located at a busy commercial area in Morgan’s Gate. Rajesh has a licensed pistol and left home with it at around 3.30pm, Shashi Kumar said.
In the incident, Sudhindra, his son and a class 10 student was injured. The boy is being treated at a private hospital. The x-ray report showed that the bullet had pierced into the head by about eight inches. A thorough investigation will reveal the exact cause for the incident, he said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Chandru and Ashraf working as driver and cleaner in one of the luggage carrier vehicles had gone for a trip and reportedly demanded Rs 4,000 as wages. When they started screaming in the presence of Prabhu’s wife, she called her husband and son to the office. The family resides close to the office. Prabhu’s son allegedly slapped the driver and cleaner following which there was a commotion and then Prabhu allegedly took out the weapon and fired two rounds of which one has hit his son, police sources said.
A case has been taken up based upon the complaint of the firm’s manager and FIR has been registered. FSL team has been called and necessary procedures of investigation are being taken up.
