Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and state Congress President B.K. Hariprasad participated in a Diwali Milan gathering hosted by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, at his New Delhi residence on Saturday. The two prominent leaders from Karnataka joined other senior Congress figures, Members of Parliament, and leaders from various states, engaging in discussions on national political developments.

Both Shivakumar and Hariprasad shared photographs from the festive occasion, featuring Rahul Gandhi and other national leaders. Hariprasad specifically mentioned extending Diwali greetings to Rahul Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi during the event. He noted that the gathering offered a crucial platform for Congress leaders nationwide to interact and exchange perspectives on the prevailing political climate.

Speaking to media late Friday night in New Delhi, Chief Minister Shivakumar conveyed Rahul Gandhi's message of unity, peace, and love to party members and workers. Addressing queries about his discussions with Gandhi and the broader political landscape, Shivakumar emphasized that Rahul Gandhi's ongoing political campaign transcends personal ambition, representing "the campaign of the country and the voice of the people."

Shivakumar further asserted the Congress party's historical role in securing India's freedom, democracy, and Constitution. He stated that as Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi is actively safeguarding these foundational principles and the rights of citizens. The Chief Minister highlighted that the history and strength of the Congress are intrinsically linked to the nation's own trajectory, ensuring equitable distribution among all sections of society whenever the party holds power. He affirmed that upholding this tradition remains the party's paramount strength.

When questioned about the potential linking of voter IDs with beneficiary schemes, Shivakumar indicated that the matter required thorough discussion, stating, "We have many issues to discuss. I am also part of the government, and there are several aspects that need to be discussed on this matter. I will speak about it after the discussions."
