Kannadiga Professor Ashok Ramappa appointed as Vice Chancellor of National University of Legal Studies and Research, Ranchi

 

Kannadiga Professor Ashok Ramappa Patil has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Legal Studies and Research, Ranchi. The Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court has appointed Professor Patil as the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Professor Ashok Ramappa Patil received his education from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He graduated in Criminology and Forensic Science in 1993 and completed his LL.B in 1996. He then completed LL.M in 1998 with First Class in Mercantile Law.

 

 

Completed his PhD in Consumer Law in 2006 under UGC Fellowship. Initially practiced in Karnataka High Court till 1999. Then he entered the field of education. Till 2007 Belgaum KLES B.V. He worked as a lecturer at Bellad Law College and served as Principal of the same college from 2007 to 2008.

 

He joined the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore in August 2008 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Professor in 2011.

Patil said this is a good opportunity

Speaking to Bar & Bench, he shared his happiness after his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of National University of Legal Studies and Research, Ranchi.

“This is a great opportunity and there is a lot of room for improvement in the university. I will try to implement new projects like international journals, book publishing and fund raising which I have taken up at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore,” he said.

Professor Patil, who is currently teaching at NLSIU, says he is not yet ready for his new role as Vice-Chancellor at NUSRL. He is in the process of winding down his responsibilities as a full-time faculty member at NLSIU for the academic year.

He is likely to take charge as the Vice-Chancellor by the end of this month. Presently the Vice-Chancellor of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Prof. Talking to Sudhir Krishnaswamy. After completing his 5 years at Ranchi University, he will return to Bangalore.
