A 48-year-old property dealer, Manjeet Singh alias Bunty, was fatally assaulted in Delhi's Kalkaji area, with his brother Dilbag Singh also sustaining serious injuries during the incident, officials confirmed on Sunday. Dilbag Singh is currently receiving medical care in a hospital for his wounds.
Police responded to reports of a scuffle outside L-8, Kalkaji, where both the victim and accused reportedly resided. Upon arrival, officers learned that Manjeet and Dilbag had already been transported to AIIMS Trauma Centre. Investigators revealed that an argument outside the building escalated into a physical confrontation. Manjeet was pronounced dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre, while Dilbag's injuries necessitated his hospitalisation.
Manjeet Singh's sister has vehemently alleged that her brother was brutally attacked until he died. She accused a woman identified as Rajji Chaudhary, along with her husband, sons, and daughter, of being directly involved. According to her account, the group collectively assaulted Manjeet, striking him on the head with an object, causing him to fall. They then allegedly continued to kick and punch him until he was dead on the spot. She further claimed that Dilbag Singh, who rushed to intervene after being informed, also suffered severe head injuries and a broken leg during the assault. The sister stated that Rajji Chaudhary, her husband, and four other men participated in the fatal beating.
Dilbag Singh recounted receiving a distressing phone call around 11:15 PM, informing him that Manjeet was being beaten by multiple individuals in Kalkaji. He immediately travelled to the location with his sister, where he discovered Manjeet lying on the road outside an L-Block residence, his shirt torn, already deceased.
Delhi Police have established multiple teams to review CCTV footage and apprehend all individuals involved in the fatal assault. Manjeet's sister has demanded strict punishment for those responsible for her brother's death and Dilbag's injuries.
