Union Minister J.P. Nadda on Monday in New Delhi launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the INDIA bloc, accusing them of a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and anarchy across the nation. His remarks came amidst a burgeoning political controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which has seen protests from opposition leaders.
Speaking to reporters, Nadda contended that while 140 crore Indians diligently pursue the vision of a developed India, and the nation's global standing strengthens, the opposition remains consumed by frustration over this progress. He asserted that the Congress and its allies, lacking substantive policies and a clear vision, are now resorting to new tactics to destabilize the country.
Nadda claimed that the opposition's repeated allegations have consistently failed against factual scrutiny. "All their fabricated accusations have been repeatedly shattered on the touchstone of facts. From the Election Commission to the highest courts of the country, the air has been blown out of every single one of their lies," he stated. He specifically linked this pattern to the ongoing debate around the Election Commission, accusing the INDIA bloc of attempting to undermine constitutional institutions.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi directly, Nadda warned, "repeating a lie a hundred times does not make it the truth, nor does the truth get defeated." He further alleged that the 'sole agenda' of leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mamata Banerjee is to 'defame and weaken' India's autonomous and constitutional bodies. This, he described, as a 'toolkit mentality' – creating new conspiracies, deteriorating the national atmosphere, and then disengaging.
The backdrop to Nadda's strong comments is the ongoing controversy regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has been a central figure in this political storm. Reports had emerged suggesting that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised concerns over certain decisions related to the SIR exercise. However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has since officially denied these reports, affirming that all decisions were approved unanimously.
