Srinagar July 14: Militants’ rampage continues along the border. Terrorists fired on three non-local laborers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian.

Three non-locals working as laborers were shot dead by two masked terrorists in Gagran area of ​​Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. Immediately after the incident, all three of the injured were shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.

The injured have been identified as Anmol Kumar, Heralal Yadav and Pintu Kumar Thakur.

“Terrorists fired at three outside workers in Shopian. The injured, Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur and Heralal Yadav, residents of Supaul, Bihar dist, have been shifted to hospital,” Kashmir Police wrote on Twitter.

Currently Amarnath Yatra has started. Hence, heavy security has been arranged at the place to avoid terrorist attacks. During the 48-day July–August annual Hindu pilgrimage, 600,000 or more pilgrims reach the 130-foot (40 m) glacial Amarnath cave shrine. A pilgrimage is made to Shivalinga, an ice stalagmite at a height of 12,756 feet (3,888 m). There are cases of militants firing on pilgrims.

On 10 July 2017, 8 Hindu civilian pilgrims were killed in a terrorist attack on the way to the Amarnath temple in the Kashmir valley of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir on the first Monday of the month of Shravan. At least 18 people were injured in the attack. The pilgrims mostly belonged to the Indian state of Gujarat.

On 2 August 2000, the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organization massacred 32 Hindu pilgrims. At least 60 people were injured in the two-hour long indiscriminate firing at Nunwan base camp in Anantnag district.

Yet on 20 July 2001, a terrorist hurled two grenades and fired indiscriminately at a night camp of pilgrims at Sheshnag lake on the way to the Amarnath shrine. At least 13 people were killed and 15 others injured in the attack.
