Indrani Mukherjee granted bail
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to Indrani Mukherjee, the main accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.
The Supreme Court, Indrani Mukherjee, has been in custody for six years and said the case was based on circumstantial evidence. In addition, the bar and bench cited the court as saying that although the prosecution dropped half of the evidence in the cases, the trial would not be over soon.
The release of Indrani’s bail is subject to “trial court satisfaction”. The court also said Peter Mukherjee will be charged with the same conditions.
Mukherjee is facing trial on April 24, 2012 for allegedly killing her daughter Sheena. She was arrested by Khar police on August 25, 2015 and has been held in Byculla jail since September 2015. Her ex-husband Peter Mukherjee and former CEO Star India and Sanjeev Khanna are also accused in the case. Peter was granted bail last year.
