The Congress had urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take the incident seriously and talk to the Canadian authorities.
Reacting to this in a press conference held later, Jaishankar expressed outrage that Canada is allowing anti-India organizations to carry out such acts on its soil. He criticized Canada’s policy of allowing separatists, extremists and people who advocate violence elsewhere to be politically motivated.
Earlier, Canada’s High Commissioner to India Cameron Mackay said he was “disturbed” by reports of the incident in his country.
There is no tolerance for glorification of hatred or violence in Canada. “I condemn such activities,” Mackay said in a tweet.
