Udupi : B C Patil, the Minister of Agriculture, kicked off the fallow land agricultural activities by driving a tractor across a paddy field. On Saturday, June 26, this programme was held in the Kadekar Gram Panchayath Limit. Minister Patil, speaking at the event, remarked, “These are the days of true farmers.” MLA Raghupati Bhat is performing the work that the government should have done. This type of scheme acts as a guiding light for the government. Allowing his property to go barren without any agricultural activity is tantamount to betrayal. Leaving the land barren is equivalent to not allowing the offspring of mother earth to grow.
“Agriculture employs over 60% of the workforce. There are 15 million hectares of fallow land in our state. In agriculture, we use fertiliser and insecticides. MLA Bhat has emphasised organic farming in the midst of this. A grant of Rs 500 crore has been provided by the state government for this purpose. Organic farming not only improves one’s health, but it also preserves the soil’s fertility.
Regardless of the rain, the residents were delighted to enjoy the verdant beauty of the mother land who had been destroyed for decades. The customary paddy planting was joined by NCC students and elders from Udupi
