On a recent day, a case was registered at the Kota police station against Ashwini, a 33-year-old woman from Hardalli Mandalli village, for allegedly misusing funds meant for self-help societies. As the Chief Writer of the Sanjeevini Union at the Hardalli Mandalli Gram Panchayat level since 2022, Ashwini was responsible for distributing government grants to 54 self-help societies. The government had released a total of ₹75,250,000 to the union’s account at the Canara Bank Bidkalkatte branch from 2022. However, instead of following the rules, Ashwini allegedly forged signatures and seals of the union’s president, secretary, and treasurer, and misused ₹33,50,000 for personal gain. The accused also allegedly cheated the union by using the name of another organization, Mandara Swasahay Sangh, where she is the president, and by forging signatures of some of its members. The Kota police have now registered a case against Ashwini for her alleged abuse of power and misappropriation of funds.
