Filmmaker Karan Johar renews lease tenure of two commercial properties under ‘Dharma Productions’
Ace filmmaker Karan Johar has renewed the contract of two commercial properties owned by him under his firm Dharma Productions. Dharma Productions is a large scale firm that deals with film productions and the film business. The rent for both of the properties is now Rs 17.56 lakh and Rs 6.15 lakh per month respectively. The contract was signed on August 25 this year.
Both the properties are located on the second floor of Supreme Chambers, Off Veera Desai Road in Andheri West, Mumbai. According to a report, the two leases were earlier registered in 2017 which have now been renewed from May 1, 2021. The updated contract of the properties also includes a security deposit of Rs 75 lakh for the first property and Rs 25 lakh for the second property. The agreement also includes a clause for the increase of rentals by 10 per cent every year. Now, the lease tenure has been renewed for 60 months.
The chargeable area is 11,374 sq ft and the rent is Rs 155 per sq ft per month for the first property which brings the rent to the sum total of Rs 17.56 lakh. While the second one has a chargeable area of 3,971 sq ft and a carpet area of 2,820 sq ft and constitutes a rent of Rs 6.15 lakh as it has the rate per month is Rs 155 per sq ft. The second property is owned by Yashwan Productions Private Limited that has Hiroo Yash Johar (Karan Johar’s mother), Apoorva Jekisandas Mehta and Karan Yash Johar as directors.
