On July 5, a fatal accident occurred near Nittade, within the Venur Police Station limits in Beltangady, when a goods auto-rickshaw collided with a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of one person and seriously injuring another. Ravindra Moolya, a 47-year-old resident of Karimaneelu village, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries. His brother, Jagadish Moolya, who was riding with him, suffered serious leg injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The brothers, working as masons, were traveling from Guruvayanakere to Venur after completing their work when the accident occurred. The collision happened near Kumbhashree School in Nittade, where the goods auto-rickshaw, attempting to avoid a pothole, veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the two-wheeler. The auto-rickshaw driver and local residents helped transport Jagadish Moolya to the hospital. The accident is believed to have been caused by a combination of the auto-rickshaw moving into the wrong lane and the two-wheeler riders failing to notice due to rain. A case has been registered at the local police station regarding the incident.
