New Delhi: In a major twist in the sexual harassment case against WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the father of the minor wrestler, who had earlier accused him of sexual harassment, has now hit a U-turn saying that a false case has been filed against WFI chief Brij Bhushan.

The minor’s father claimed that the head was charged with molestation after Brij Bhushan acted ‘indiscriminately’ towards his daughter. Speaking to The New Indian Express about this, the accused father of the teenage wrestler said that he was angry with Brij Bhushan after his daughter failed to qualify for the final trials of the 2022 Asian Championship.

Similarly Brij Bhushan did not sexually molest my daughter.. but his approach was totally biased against her. Due to this reason, he lost in the 2022 U-17 Asian Championship Trials held in Lucknow. One wrong decision by the jury wasted a year of my daughter’s hard work. This is against the rules, all the staff including the player my daughter played in the match are from Delhi.. That’s why his daughter had to lose, said the father.

Wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat have been protesting at Jantar Mantar demanding the arrest of the WFI chief on allegations of sexual harassment filed by 7 women wrestlers, including a minor girl. A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act was registered against minor wrestler Brij Bhushan Singh, who recorded a fresh statement before a magistrate on June 5. A new statement has been filed by the minor wrestler’s father.

On Wednesday, the wrestlers agreed to withdraw their agitation after Sports Minister Anurag Thakur assured that the police investigation would be completed by June 15. “We had a very positive discussion with the protesting wrestlers… They demanded an investigation. Accordingly, the charge sheet should be submitted by June 15. Thakur said that this demand was accepted by consensus.
