New Delhi: A Vistara Airlines flight from Delhi to Mumbai was delayed for two hours at the Indira Gandhi International Airport after a passenger said he heard a fellow passenger talking about a bomb in his bag. It was later declared false, official sources said on Thursday.
A multi-security, intelligence, airport operations and aviation agency committee meeting at the station was held around 6-10 pm after such a threat was detected on flight number UK-941 between Delhi-Mumbai which was scheduled to depart at 4-55 on Wednesday.
Sources said that a female passenger reported to the flight crew that she overheard a male passenger on the phone saying that the CISF could not detect the bomb in the bag. Security forces check passengers and their luggage in the country’s 66 civil airports amid threats.
The flight’s take-off was delayed by two hours as the crew immediately informed the security personnel and the CISF. Sources said that the anti-sabotage team checked the bags of all the passengers.
