NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi to appear before them on June 8 in connection with the illegal transfer of money to the National Herald.
Both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have been summoned to appear on June 8 for a hearing on the money laundering case of the National Herald.
The case has recently been documented in connection with an investigation into alleged financial irregularities in the promotion of the Young Indian Party, which owns the National Herald newspaper. The agency wants to record Sonia and Rahul Gandhi’s statements under criminal sections of the illegal money laundering act (PMLA), officials said.
Addressing the press, Congress leader Ranjeep Singh Surjewala issued an ED notice to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. In 1942 he launched the National Herald. Surjewala said that the British tried to overcome it at the time, and today the Modi government is doing the same and using the ED as dice.
