DEWA and Sungro discuss adopting clean energy technologies r
Dubai: DEWA discussed, with a high-ranking delegation from Sungro, a provider of frequency converter systems for solar energy and energy storage solutions, current trends and the growing importance of renewable energy solutions in the region, and potential cooperation and partnerships between the authority and the company, to promote the adoption of clean energy technologies in the UAE and abroad.
This came during the reception of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Authority, the company’s delegation, which was headed by Zhao Renxian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, and included Thomson Ming, Vice President of Solar PV Solutions and Storage, and Lin Qia, Senior Manager, External Strategic Accounts Department.
Al Tayer explained the authority’s projects and initiatives to diversify clean energy sources, including solar photovoltaic panels, concentrated solar energy, green hydrogen production using solar energy, a new source of future energy, and water energy technology stored in the hydroelectric station project in Hatta.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, which is implemented by the Authority, is the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world, according to the model of the independent energy producer, and supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai, to provide 100% of the total energy production capacity in Dubai from clean energy sources by 2050.
The total production capacity of the complex, which has an investment of 50 billion dirhams ($13.6 billion), will reach 5,000 megawatts by 2030, and its projects are receiving great interest from global developers.
Zhao Renxian explained Sungro’s extensive experience in providing innovative solutions for solar energy frequency converter systems and energy storage systems. The company has implemented a number of projects in the UAE and around the world, which contributed significantly to the global shift towards sustainable energy sources.
