CSK vs DC, IPL 2021: Live Updates
MS Dhoni walked out to bat after the exit of Suresh Raina, who scored a blazing fifty on return, but his stay on the crease was just two balls long. CSK captain tried to pull Avesh Khan but found the inside edge which hit the stumps.
Dhoni returned to action after Chennai’s last IPL 2020 game where he had declared that it was “definitely not” his last match in the CSK yellow jersey. CSK failed to make the playoffs for the first time in their history last season and the three-time champions will look to make amends in 2021.
“We were also looking to bowl. It’s cloudy, we may not get as much dew. You want to make the most of whatever is left. It feels good to be back and we had some good time in terms of preparation. We’ll also use some players who are in quarantine later. Faf, Moeen, Sam and Bravo are our overseas players,” MS Dhoni said at the toss ceremony.
Notably, MS Dhoni had struggled throughout the IPL 2020 and could manage to score only 200 runs in 14 matches.
Meanwhile, Raina hit a 32-ball fifty in their IPL 2021 opener against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Raina hit his 39th IPL fifty as he equalled Virat Kohli on the list of most fifties in the IPL.
