Dakshina Kannada DC orders suspension of all undergraduate and postgraduate classes until September 15
Mangaluru: The Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV has ordered the suspension of all undergraduate and postgraduate classes in Dakshina Kannada district until September 15 as the COVID-19 positivity rate has risen to 2.4%.
He made this decision in a meeting held at his office on Thursday.
“If the positivity rate in the district decreases by September 15, then a meeting will be held with college managements to discuss and take steps to start physical classes. Science students will be allowed to attend practical classes in batches and in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines. Students of all other disciplines will continue with online classes,” the DC said.
College staff – both teaching and non-teaching – must be vaccinated and submit proof of vaccination to the college administration. Some rural students struggle to attend online classes due to network issues. “The district administration will come up with an alternative and make arrangements so that these students can attend classes,” he said.
The meeting was attended by ADC Dr Pragya Ammambal, Mangaluru University’s Registrar (Administration) Kishore K, College Education Special Officer Jayakar Bhandari, Nitte University Nodal Officer Dr Danish, and others.
