On BC Road, a horrific crime unfolded as a young woman was brutally murdered, prompting the CPI(M) Mangaluru City Committee to strongly condemn the act. The incident, which occurred today, has sent shockwaves through civil society, with the government being urged to take effective measures to prevent violence against women. According to a press release, the CPI(M) views the continuous violence against women as a consequence of a patriarchal society that demeans women and perpetuates social inequality. The committee emphasizes that such incidents will continue to occur in a society that fails to respect women’s freedom, equality, and right to live. The CPI(M) also denounces attempts to divert attention from the issue of justice by highlighting the religion, caste, or community of the victims or accused. Instead, the focus should be on recognizing the true face of public representatives and organizations that exploit crime for political gain, creating hatred and tension in society. The committee stresses that crime has no religion and that offenders must be held accountable before the law, rejecting any dual policy of measuring justice based on religion.
