Congress urges not to rename Indira Canteens
Mangaluru: The Congress has warned the BJP that its plans to rename Indira Canteens could lead to agitations in Dakshina Kannada. Ivan D’Souza, AICC secretary, told the media here on Tuesday that Indira Gandhi was not simply a leader of the Congress party. “She was a leader of the masses, but C T Ravi has been making political statements without studying history. We will send Ravi books so he can learn about history.BJP has begun renaming schemes launched by previous governments. Let them start new schemes and name them after leaders of their choice.
Several roads in India are named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but the Congress has never renamed any of them. If the BJP keeps up the ‘name politics’, they will lose the next election,” D’Souza said.
The former MLC also questioned why the BJP refused to change the name of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA). “BJP government is incapable of removing ‘Adani Airports’ from MIA,” he said.
