On a mission to revitalize its presence, the Congress party launched the Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan, or Organization Creation Campaign, in Surathkal, with AICC observer and Kerala MLA Jayanth at the helm. The campaign, which aims to strengthen the party from the grassroots level, was kicked off at a meeting near Chokkabettu Cross. Jayanth emphasized the need for capable local leaders to drive the party forward and reclaim its former glory in Dakshina Kannada district, where it had tasted victory in 2013. The party has set its sights on winning all eight constituencies in the district, as well as the city corporation, zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat, and gram panchayats. Jayanth attributed the BJP’s declining fortunes to its anti-people policies, citing the recent student rally in Delhi as evidence. He also claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is now bearing fruit. The event was attended by several prominent Congress leaders, including Minister Jayaprakash Hegde, KPCC General Secretary Inayat Ali, and Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar.
