On July 29, AICC in-charge K. Jayanth outlined the party’s vision for the selection of District Congress Committee presidents at the ‘Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan’ meeting in Mangaluru’s Gurupura Block Congress office. Jayanth emphasized that the party high command has directed the selection process to align with the aspirations of every Congress worker in the district. The Congress party aims to regain its dominance in the undivided Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Jayanth stated that the party has introduced subtle changes to strengthen its presence in the country, with the goal of regaining its past glory in the upcoming Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections.

The meeting was attended by prominent Congress leaders, including Gurupura Block Congress Committee President Padmanabha Kotian, KPCC General Secretary Inayat Ali, DCC President Harish Kumar, and KPCC spokesperson Veronica Cornelio. Former Chikkamagaluru Zilla Panchayat President H. M. Satish, KPCC member Sadashiva P. R., and former MP Jayaprakash Hegde also spoke on the DCC president selection process and the strengthening of Congress in the country. Other notable attendees included former minister B. Ramanath Rai, Congress leaders Pruthviraj R. K., Surendra Kambali, and hundreds of workers.

Following the discussions, each attendee individually shared their opinions with MLA Jayanth regarding the selection of the DCC president, marking a significant step in the party’s revamp plans. With the party’s focus on strengthening its presence in the region, the meeting in Mangaluru has set the stage for the Congress party’s efforts to regain its dominance in the state.
