On Wednesday evening, Kundapura played host to a protest organized by Kundapura Block Congress and Kota Block Congress, where Congress leader Molahalli Dinesh Hegde condemned the central government’s handling of the NEET exam question paper leakage and the subsequent police brutality on students in Delhi. According to Hegde, the use of force to suppress protests is an unconstitutional act that undermines the democratic right to express dissent. He emphasized that dialogue and respecting differing opinions are essential in a democratic setup. The protest, held near Shastri Circle, drew attention to the NEET question paper leakage and the central government’s failure to address the issue.
Later, the protest took a symbolic turn as NSUI leaders, Congress workers, and students burnt an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the road, voicing their outrage. Several leaders, including District Congress spokesperson K. Vikas Hegde, Block Congress presidents Keduur Sadananda Shetty and Thimma Poojary Kota, and Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee president Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, addressed the gathering. Other notable attendees included Jyothi Puthran, Devaki Sannayya, and Krishnadeva Karanth. Urban Planning Authority President Vinod Crasta compered the event, which saw participation from various leaders and workers.
