On August 11, a Congress delegation led by MLA Ivan D’Souza met with Rahul Rathnam Pandey, the new Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation, in Mangaluru. The meeting aimed to discuss various civic issues affecting the city’s development. The delegation requested the Commissioner to implement improvements in the city’s administration, including the drinking water system, drainage system, and LED street light issues.

The Congress leaders, comprising former corporators and Block Congress Presidents, urged the Commissioner to prioritize resolving issues such as recent floods, rain damage, and hill and compound wall collapses. They also sought swift action to prevent public inconvenience. The meeting also highlighted irregularities during the previous BJP administration, including the use of the General Fund and discriminatory grant allocation to Congress corporators.

The delegation included notable figures such as Abdul Saleem, Prakash B. Salian, Shashidhar Hegde, Bhaskar Moily, and Jacintha Vijaya Alfred. Other attendees included former corporators Praveen Chandra Alva, Anil Kumar, and Ashok D.K., as well as party leaders Aliston D’Cunha, Amrit Kadri, and Roopa Chethan. The meeting demonstrated the Congress party’s commitment to addressing Mangaluru’s civic concerns.
