“Briz Bhushan was drunk and misbehaving with girls”: International referee Jagbir

New Delhi: International referee Jagbir Singh said that he has seen BJP MP and WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh misbehaving with women wrestlers on several occasions since 2013.

Many top Indian wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, have protested demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan for allegedly sexually harassing female wrestlers.

“I have been a UWW referee since 2007 and I was a referee even before the women’s wrestlers protested. I have known Brij Bhushan since a long time,” Jagbir told PTI.

“I have seen Brij Bhushan misbehaving with girls with my own eyes. But I could not do anything until the girls filed complaints against him. I was saddened to see those scenes,” he said.

Jagbir, who has been a coach-cum-international referee since 2007, said he witnessed Brij Bhushan’s misbehavior on several occasions.

During Brij Bhushan’s 2013 visit to Kazakhstan after becoming president, he said ‘I’ll give you Indian food today’ and threw a party at the junior wrestlers’ hotel. The referee said that Brij Bhushan and his companions were drunk and misbehaved with the girls and I was the witness.
