BJP’s anti-Dalit, anti-tribal face exposed: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, July 5: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the incident in Madhya Pradesh where a man said to be a BJP leader urinated on a tribal man and alleged that atrocities against tribals and Dalits are on the rise under the BJP rule.
A video of a man said to be a local BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh urinating on a tribal man in the state’s Sidhi district recently went viral on social media, prompting calls for his arrest from many quarters.
He was arrested on Wednesday after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called for the immediate arrest of the man, identified as Pravesh Shukla.
The inhumane act has revealed the true face of BJP’s hatred towards Adivasis and Dalits. Atrocities against tribal brothers and sisters are increasing under BJP rule. Madhya Pradesh BJP leader’s inhuman crime has made entire mankind ashamed. This is the ugly face and true nature of BJP’s hatred for tribals and Dalits,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Wednesday.
Commenting on the incident, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said the man’s act was despicable, reprehensible and a stain on humanity. Bulldozer will not take action as demanded by Congress. Bulldozer will be used only when there is encroachment. He said that the accused were arrested because they talked about the bulldozer action without taking any names.
The term became popular after the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government bulldozed several properties owned by alleged criminals. On Tuesday, an official in the MP Chief Minister’s office said that Shukla has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene acts), 504 (intentional insult to incite breach of peace) and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes provisions of the Prevention of Atrocities Act.
BJP leaders who lie about the interests of tribals have committed this kind of inhumane act on the tribal poor. This is a very reprehensible act,’ said Hafeez. Hafeez tagged Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chavan.
‘Is it love for your tribe?? It is called Jungle Raj. Why are you not arresting the BJP leader? The name of the accused is said to be Pravesh Shukla. It is known that he is a close associate of MLA Kedar Nath Shukla,’ wrote Chauhanand.
In another tweet, Hafeez shared several pictures of accused Pravesh Shukla sitting with some prominent BJP leaders. “The BJP leader who urinated on a tribal man is in pictures with senior BJP leaders,” wrote Hafeez.
