On Tuesday, Bengaluru witnessed a scathing attack by former BJP National General Secretary and MLC, C.T. Ravi, on the Congress over its newly-expanded Karnataka Cabinet, which lacks female representation. Ravi invoked Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s pro-women slogan, ‘Main Ladki Hoon, Main Lad Sakti Hoon’, to question the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment. During a media address, Ravi asked where the women were in the Congress Cabinet, given the party’s projection as a champion of women’s rights. He pointed out that not a single woman had been inducted into the Cabinet. Ravi further accused the Congress of undermining constitutional values and betraying the interests of the Scheduled Tribe community by re-inducting B. Nagendra, who faces charges in the alleged Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scam. The BJP leader claimed that chargesheets had been filed against Nagendra and that the Enforcement Directorate had registered a case, seizing cash and assets during the investigation. Ravi alleged that the Congress had effectively endorsed corruption by inducting a charge-sheeted leader into the Cabinet. He also criticized the inclusion of other ministers, alleging that individuals facing controversies had been rewarded with ministerial positions.
