On a recent operation, Bengaluru Police apprehended 39 individuals, including eight foreign nationals, as part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking under the Beda Bro campaign. The campaign, which falls under Mission RISE, aims to educate Gen Z youth about the consequences of drug addiction and promote responsible choices. The arrests were made during a series of raids conducted by police teams from 16 stations and the CCB Anti-Narcotics Wing across Bengaluru.
According to Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, the operations were conducted based on credible information about the sale and distribution of prohibited narcotic substances in various parts of the city. The police seized narcotic substances and other items valued at Rs 28.07 crore, with an estimated market value of Rs 55.80 crore. The seizures included 21 kg 641 grams of MDMA, 738 grams of cocaine, 4 kg 493 grams of hydro ganja, 184 kg 625 grams of ganja, 1 kg 65 grams of opium, and 25 grams of morphine.
In addition to the drugs, the police also seized Rs 17 lakh in cash, 22 mobile phones, and five two-wheelers allegedly used in connection with the drug trade. Of the 39 arrested, eight are foreign nationals, 21 are from other states, and 10 are local residents. The accused allegedly purchased narcotic substances at low prices from unidentified suppliers and sold them at higher prices to make quick profits. The police are currently working to identify and apprehend the alleged suppliers.
