On Wednesday, residents of Anebail in Bajpe were evacuated as a precautionary measure after a hill collapse damaged several houses. The incident occurred when a private landowner excavated a portion of the hill, causing the soil to erode and damage nearby homes. Muhammad Azmal, a resident whose house was partially damaged, stated that the landowner had excavated around 20-25 feet of the hill, despite warnings from the residents. The excavation led to soil erosion, which in turn caused the hill to collapse, damaging Azmal’s house and putting five other houses at risk. The residents have accused the landowner of negligence and have demanded compensation for the damages. The Gram Panchayat development officer, Pankaj Shetty, visited the site and conducted an inspection. The authorities have issued a notice to the residents, asking them to vacate their homes and move to a relief center. However, many residents have opted to move to rented houses instead. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the residents, and the authorities have promised to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
