New Delhi. A report states that Team India will play Pakistan in Kandy on September 2 in the 2023 Asia Cup starting on August 30.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the opening match of the tournament will be played in Multan with hosts Pakistan taking on Nepal and the final will be held in Colombo on September 17.
“They are included in the latest version of the match draft schedule, which is likely to see more changes before the final version is announced by the ACC. The original draft schedule prepared by the PCB (host board) has already undergone several iterations, mainly because of the recent six-nation tournament to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka based on the hybrid model approved by the ACC.
“A total of 13 matches will be played in the tournament, all scheduled to start at 1 pm Pakistan Standard Time (1.30 pm IST). Pakistan is placed in Group A along with India and Nepal while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in Group B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage and the top two teams from this stage will advance to the finals. The Asia Cup, which will be played in the 50-over format this time, is essentially preparation for five of the six teams, except Nepal, for the ODI World Cup starting October 5 in India.
IANS has learned that an official announcement will be made on Wednesday evening.
