Former Deputy Superintendent of Police and social activist Anupama Shenoy said on Oct 19 in Udupi that the anti‑Modi protest in New Delhi may be financed by the private liquor lobby.

Speaking at a press conference in the Udupi Press Club, Shenoy questioned the source of money for the demonstration organised by the Cockroach Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress, noting that CJP is not a registered body and therefore its financial dealings lack transparency.

She also linked AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia to the controversy over Delhi’s excise policy, suggesting the liquor lobby benefits from their involvement.

According to Shenoy, CJP is exploiting Supreme Court Justice Surya Kant's “cockroach” remark to rally opposition against the judiciary rather than solely targeting the Modi government.

In the same address, Shenoy condemned the removal of former minister K.N. Rajanna from the Karnataka cabinet, calling the action unjust and demanding his reappointment by Oct 26, warning of a protest if the demand is ignored.

She concluded that the movement is being presented as a political struggle, but its real aim, she asserted, is to undermine the judicial system.
