A Class 10 student, Murram Shivani, who just three days prior had shared the dais with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a government school event, tragically died by suicide on Monday. The incident occurred at her grandmother's house in Irlapalli village, located in Polavaram district.
Shivani, a student at Zilla Parishad High School in Rampachodavaram, had attracted considerable attention during the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (MPTM 4.0) on July 24. She delivered an enthusiastic speech, expressing her ambition to excel in her studies and win the 'Shining Star Award' next year. Following her address, Chief Minister Naidu called her to sit beside him and engaged her in a brief conversation, acknowledging her aspirations.
Authorities confirmed Shivani hanged herself, leaving behind a handwritten suicide note. In the note, she apologised to her parents, who work at a hotel in Korukonda, for failing to fulfil their dreams. The precise reasons behind her extreme step remain unknown. She resided with her grandmother while pursuing her education.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound sorrow over Shivani's passing, recalling her vibrant spirit and high aspirations. In a post on 'X', he stated, 'It is heartbreaking to see a tribal girl with such a promising future lose her life in this manner.' He ordered officials to conduct a thorough investigation into her death and urged students and youth to seek support from family and friends when facing challenges, assuring them of government backing.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. The MPTM 4.0 event, attended by Chief Minister Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, aimed to foster stronger connections between parents, teachers, and communities for improved student progress.
